This winter, Comcast® is going to launch an XFINITY® retail outlet in Normal, Illinois. The telecommunications company, which provides everything from best cable deals to internet plans under the XFINITY® brand, will close their outlet at 1202 West Division Street and will open a new store in the retail complex “Shoppes at College Hills”.

In May this year, the cable provider first announced their plan to roll out a new kind of retail outlet. The outlet will have demonstrations of XFINITY® products and services and will double up as a customer service center of Comcast®. The store is more of a service center, which will provide an opportunity to customers to get hands-on with Comcast XFINITY® offerings. They include high-speed internet, cable TV, new wireless service named XFINITY Mobile®, and XFINITY Home® range of home automation services.

The store will be similar in ambiance to a digital retail shop. The cable giant’s XFINITY® stores feature tablets, especially Apple iPads, and other mobile devices for shoppers to explore the mobile applications of XFINITY®. Although they look similar to a digital store, Comcast® also offers customer service through their XFINITY® outlet.

“Comcast® customers in Normal and other area communities will be able to make payments, pick up and return equipment and get customer assistance at the new store, as they did at the Normal service center,” said Comcast’s Director of PR for Greater Chicago Region, Amanda Vallejo. “In addition — unlike the service center — customers can also get hands-on experience with our products and services in the new retail environment.”

As per reports, the outlet will stay open from 09:00 am to 07:00 pm from Mondays to Saturdays and from noon to 05:00 pm on Sundays. “We will continue to occupy the building on West Division Street, which houses technical operations, engineering and warehouse employees,” Vallejo said. “The new store will have around 15 employees, and there are 5 employees in the service center.”

Darcy Kennelly Rutzen, the Retail and Marketing VP of M&J Wilkow, which owns “Shoppes at College Hills”, said that they are “thrilled to welcome the new concept to The Shoppes at College Hills.” The Mayor of Normal Chris Koos also said that, “the addition of the XFINITY® store will further enhance this dynamic development”, while referring to the retail complex it will be part of this winter.
