AT&T® and Amazon Web Services® will be rolling out Internet of Things tools and solutions in order to make business consumers stay competent in a world driven by cloud data. The announcement regarding this came at the AWS re:Invent 2017 event held in Las Vegas recently. This is being done by AT&T® and Amazon Web Services® to help the enterprise customers deliver Internet of Things solutions more efficiently.

“These new solutions bring enterprise customers best-in-breed solutions to manage IoT assets wherever they are,” said Mike Troiano, VP of Internet of Things Solutions at AT&T®. He added, “We’re pleased to build upon our longstanding relationship with AWS to deliver these new features to business customers through the IoT and cloud.”

Both the companies have designed an LTE-M Button that functions on the LTE-M network of AT&T® and makes use of AWS IoT 1-Click. The LTE-M Button is expected to become available next year and is designed for enterprise-level applications. The button would help customers to enable the IoT functions and cloud-based solutions of Amazon Web Services®.

“We have a great strategic relationship with AT&T®, especially our aligned focus to make IoT solutions simple,” said Dirk Didascalou, VP of IoT Amazon Web Services®. “The AT&T® LTE-M Button supported on the newly announced AWS IoT 1-Click service is a great example of how our customers can use AWS Lambda and AWS IoT with minimal configuration to achieve business results. We look forward to our continued work with AT&T® to drive innovation and help customers with their IoT applications.”

Moreover, AT&T® is collaborating with a technology company, G+D Mobile Security for developing a SIM Card-based solution, which safeguards device-to-cloud connections with the AWS Certificates that are embedded in the SIM cards. AWS certificates are needed to communicate with the cloud servers of AWS and are keys that encrypt cloud sessions in between a compatible device and a cloud service. With this solution, the manufacturers of what AWS call ‘simple devices’ can use the AWS certificates embedded inside the SIM Cards for authenticating connections to the AWS IoT. Additionally, they can monitor and update the AWS Certificates wirelessly too. The best internet provider, AT&T® is also going to roll out an exclusive IoT OBDII Kit that offers customers of Amazon Web Solutions® access to AT&T® Asset Management Operations Center.
