The long dispute between Tribune Media and Dish Network has finally come to an end. Dish and Tribune just signed a new retransmission consent deal, and with that, Dish subscribers will now be able to access the Tribune TV stations.

The dispute between Dish Network and Tribune Media started in the early June as both companies failed to reach a settlement on carriage fees. This lead to the blackout of WGN America cable and Tribune TV stations on Dish Network.

In a joint statement, the two companies stated that, “We want to thank our viewers and customers for their patience and support as we worked through this lengthy process. We’re pleased to move forward and again be able to provide the content of Tribune’s local stations and WGN America for years to come.”

President and CEO of Tribune Media, Peter Liguori wrote, “While the specifics of the agreement are confidential, we’re pleased with its terms and believe we achieved everything we had hoped to, including broad distribution for WGN America. The timing is great, too, with college and NFL football about to get the regular season underway, new fall prime-time programming set to debut in a few weeks, and Salem returning for its third season on WGN America.”

The blackout of these channels extended for a period of 12 weeks and it had huge adverse affects on Dish Network. Around 5 million Dish subscribers are regular viewers of Tribune stations and hence this blackout heavily affected 33 Dish markets.

Tribune Media owns CW affiliates in major markets such as Houston, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, Washington, and a lot more. Consequently, Dish subscribers also lost access to CW channels since the blackout, and they were worried about missing the new season premiere of hit CW TV series such as “The Flash” and “Arrow”.

In addition to this, Tribune Media also own CBS affiliate in Indianapolis Market. CBS brings the live coverage of popular football games and the football season is about to start within a few weeks.

However, both the channels are back to Dish Network channel guide now, and Dish Network packages subscribers can watch their favorite TV series and football games without any more hassle. Reports indicate that Dish was making efforts to solve this problem and to bring back these channels to their network since last month, and the terms are finalized now. Yet again, the company has not revealed any financial details of the contract.
